Hiking for healthy hearts with Coastrek

The Heart Foundation is the proud charity partner for Coastrek in 2024, Australia’s most iconic charity hiking challenge. Coastrek’s mission to champion women’s health is close to our hearts with heart disease being the leading single cause of death in Australia, taking the lives of around 7,000 Australian women each year.

Did you know being inactive is a key risk factor for heart disease? Research has shown that walking in nature with friends is one of the best things you can do to boost your heart health and overall wellbeing1. By training for Coastrek and hiking for healthy hearts, you will make a meaningful difference to your own heart health, the hearts of those you love, and the hearts of all Australians.

Together we can help end heart disease.

Your impact

By hiking for healthy hearts, you’ll be helping to improve the heart health and quality of life for women and all Australians. By raising money as part of your Coastrek, you can help to:

  • Fund life-saving heart research that focuses on women specific factors such as pregnancy complications and premature menopause.
  • Invest in female leadership in initiatives that focus on women-specific heart health and make up for years women have been underrepresented in clinical heart research.
  • Champion more female heart researchers across the country.
